Simple ways to improve your health

The organization that I work for has a wellness committee that publishes recipes and tips on our intranet site. I just found a list of 55 Ways to Improve Your Health. I won't list them all right at once, but here are 10 dealing with eating better:
  1. Avoid food portions bigger than your fist
  2. Skip seconds
  3. Don't skip breakfast
  4. Grill, steam, or bake instead of frying
  5. Snack on fruits and vegetables
  6. Eat leaner red meat and poultry
  7. Choose fruit for dessert
  8. Drink water before a meal
  9. Flavor foods with herbs, spices, and other low fat seasonings
  10. Skip buffets
I've already done most of these things (my snacks are usually vegetables, fruits, or whole grain foods with a low fat cheese like Swiss), I eat breakfast (usually whole grain cereal and fruit), we buy lean meat (hormone free as well), and while water is good for you, I prefer iced tea (lightly sweetened, not syrup like down south).

Any frying we do is usually in healthy oil, but we don't fry things much anymore. Grilling is our favorite way to cook.

And portion control is another key - even good-for-you foods are not so good if you stuff yourself with them.

I'll post 10 simple things you can do for exercise later.
