Saving on Home Repair Bills

After our old washing machine gave out, we shopped for a new one at our favorite store - local auctions. We found a fairly new Matag washer and paid only $40 for it. The auctioneer wasn't sure if it worked, but that the family had been using prior to moving.

Got it home and uh-oh, it didn't spin dry the clothes. Some checking on the Web and I found Repairclinic.com. They have a "RepairGuru" system that walks you through diagnosing your problem. Turned out to be a simple to replace part, which I could order right from the site. A few days later the part arrived and, using the information on the site, I installed the part in about a half an hour.

Total cost for a Matag washing machine - ~$60.00.

I've since used Repairclinic to diagnose a problem with our dishwasher, our refrigerator, and our dryer. The refrigerator wasn't fixable by me, but the others were, which saved a bundle on repair bills.
